A sworn translation in Russian must have the following characteristics:
- Sworn translations are not simple translations, so they will be done by sworn translators, which will make them official and legal, as required for document being submitted to an official body.
- Sworn translations must be submitted on paper and always be the original ones, since the signature and seal of the sworn translator is what validates the translation.
- Copies or scanned sworn translations are not valid. The customer cannot provide a photocopy and keep the original sworn translation. If the customer needs a legalised copy, they must request it from Eikatrad and our sworn translator will make all the copies they need of the sworn translation, seal them and sign them so that they also have the necessary legal validity.
- A sworn translation must correctly and faithfully reflect what the document in the original language describes: Sentences, stamps, signatures, intention of the document, and more.
- The translator must always seal and sign the translation.

The rates that apply to sworn translations depend on several factors, such as: the original and target language, the volume of documents, the number of words, etc.
Therefore, it is important to be properly advised, both by the official body requesting the document and by the translating agency, in this case us, Eikatrad, so that the documents that are are translated are strictly necessary and the customer does not end up paying more money than necessary.
When do you need a sworn Russian translation?
Official translations of documents written in other languages are required when procedures are carried out with some official bodies. The most requested translations are:
Sworn Translations for procedures with the Public Administration: Marriage, birth and death certificates, criminal records, registration, pay slips, income, bank statements, social security, adoption records, etc.
Sworn translations for procedures with academic organisations: degrees, academic records, tuition fees, and others.
Sworn translations to be provided to a notary: Deeds, powers of attorney, wills, etc.
What to do to request a sworn translation from Eikatrad
- The first step is to contact Eikatrad by any of their means of contact: See contact page.
- Fill in and send the form with the customer and service information requested.
- The customer can also send the documents in image or PDF format, by WhatsApp, by email or through our quote request form.
- The sworn translator corresponding to the requested language reviews and evaluates the document and the quote is made with its details, prices and delivery time.
- Once the quote has been approved by the customer, the translator proceeds to work on the document and delivery is made within the agreed deadline.
- The delivery must be in physical format (original paper copy), since the signature and seal of the translator must be the originals so that it has authenticity required by the official body.
- The customer can go to the Eikatrad offices or provide an address so that we can send the documents to them.
